Scottish Country Sports Tourism Group
Do you have an old recipe that’s been passed down generations that is ideal for sustaining weary deerstalkers out on the hill? The Scottish Country Sports Tourism Group (SCSTG) has teamed up with Scotland’s Natural Larder for the Year of Homecoming 2014 to celebrate the global links forged by Scots across the world by holding a Hunter’s Homecoming.
Organisers are seeking recipes for food, drink or snacks either made from hunted produce or made to sustain hunters – recipes based on Scottish classics, served with a new twist inspired by the culinary influence of their new country.
SCSTG Project Coordinator Victoria Brooks commented: “As we all know, Scots are enterprising and adventurous people; they have found their way to all parts of the world and take with them a strong identity and culture which merges with the customs of their new, adopted homes. Part of this heritage is the food of Scotland; recipes that have travelled the world and that have been passed down through generations and which have been modified and adapted to a new range of ingredients.”
The recipes will be published on the Scotland’s Natural Larder website and printed in a special ‘Hunter’s Homecoming’ recipe booklet. The author of the best recipe will be offered
