Sport Tourism policy Australia
MORE than $9 million has been contributed to the Tweed economy this year thanks to sports tourism.
Destination Tweed chief executive Bill Tatchell said by the end of the year about 14, 000 people will have visited the area to attend state or national sports competitions.
The first full year of Destination Tweed's sports tourism strategy has been an outstanding success, " Mr Tatchell said.
"Through our partnership with Sports Marketing Australia,Destination Tweed has contracted six events for the 2013 calendar year, ranging from Hockey Queensland's Under 15 Boys State Championships through to Surf Lifesaving Australia's high profile Kellogg's Nutrigrain Ironman and Ironwoman Series Trials last month.
"One of the biggest events was Netball Queensland's Challenge Carnival in June which involved 151 teams - 147 of which came from outside the Tweed."
The Battle on the Border cycling festival and the twice-yearly Kingscliff Triathlon were also named as economic success stories.
The triathlon alone attracting 1046 competitors and officials and more than 2800 supporters, staying an average of 1.76 nights.
Mr Tatchell was pleased with the work Destination Tweed had done so far and said it would continue to attract new events to the area.

America has larger and more diverse economy
America has better universities
America has more immigrants and tourism
America has better people(more friendly)
America is the financial center of the world
America has number 1 military
America has more geographic …Australia has universal healthcare
Australia has less crime
Australia has better education
Australia has better transportation but it could be argued America has better transportation due to NYC, Chicago, Boston, Philly and such.
Which country is better?
Everything does not have to be a competition. Why pit one against the other while they are different and still have such good things. Watch some sports if you want to pick a team. blech.

Its just something thats been bugging me. Why do so many people regard Tasmania as not a part of Australia? I was listening to someone talk to someone living in Tasmania and they were like "When you move to Australia you'll need to do this, that and the other" Is there some secret plan to make Tasmania its own country or something? And it seems that Tasmania and (the rest of) Australia compete for tourism etc. Like one of Tasmania's recent tourism campaigns was "Bigger then Australia" Its just weird.
I'm from Tasmania and I was once told my car was not registered in Australia by a NSWs cop. we think we are separate because we are treated as separate
