Sports Tourism in Limpopo
Fair Trade Tourism (FTT), together with Dr Xavier Font from Leeds Metropolitan University in the UK, has launched a new toolkit for tourism businesses – the ‘Keep it Real South Africa’ – to help them communicate more effectively about responsible tourism.
The toolkit covers five chapters and features responsible tourism communication case studies from FTT-certified businesses such as accommodation, activity providers, visitor attractions and a tour operator.
SATSA’s annual conference will take place at Spier in Stellenbosch, from August 7-9.
The conference will have speaker panels and discussions surrounding the central theme ‘New Opportunities’.
"We hope to speak to the opportunities available to our sector at present while encouraging lively debate around topical issues that affect the inbound tourism industry, " says David Frost, SATSA CEO.

Two male lions have been released in Marakele National Park in Thabazimbi, Limpopo, SANParks announced this week.
The lions will complement the pride already in the park. They were translocated from Pilanesberg Nature Reserve in the North West Province to form new coalitions among the lions already in the park.
“Although this will increase the lion population in the park, the main aim is to diversify the gene pool, ” said Johan Taljaard, Park Manager at Marakele.
As regional travel within European destinations slows, South Africa is one of the long-haul destinations ‘stealing’ European travellers.
This is according to Stephanie Boyle, spokesperson TripAdvisor for Business, Europe, Middle East and Africa, who explains that European tourists are finding better value in travelling to South Africa rather than their neighbouring destinations.
